Carbon Nanotubes Specialist Nanocyl
Expands Into North America
European
carbon nanotubes leader Nanocyl recently extended its
presence to the North American market with a sales office
based in Boston, Massachusetts. This extension is the
result of a partnership between Nanocyl and the specialty
polymers company Vantage Resin Systems.
Because of the importance of the North American market
for the commercialization of carbon nanotubes, European
carbon nanotubes specialist Nanocyl opened a Boston-based
US sales office earlier this year. In order to make
this happen, Nanocyl signed a collaboration agreement
with Vantage Resin Systems, a specialty polymers company
led by Andrew Rich. The launch of Nanocyl’s US
office represents a new important stage in the further
development of Nanocyl as one of the key players in
the production of carbon nanotubes on a worldwide level.
The first target end-use for NC7000 carbon nanotubes
is to impart electrical conductivity to thermoplastics.
The key responsibilities of Rich and Vantage Resin Systems
are to grow Nanocyl's US business by working closely
with US-based companies in the key end-user markets
such as automotive, industrial, semicon, aerospace,
sports equipment and refining industries.
Andy Rich and Vantage Resin Systems will also make a
strong push into the area of composites where carbon
nanotubes potentially can act as mechanical reinforcement.
The unique properties of carbon nanotubes will also
open the door to other applications – such as
long-life batteries and mobile fuel cells – where
research is rapidly moving to commercially viable products.
“The opening of a US office is crucial for the
further development of Nanocyl as a worldwide player
in the commercialization of carbon nanotubes”,
says Francis Massin, Managing Director of Nanocyl. “We
strongly believe that there is a large market opportunity
for Nanocyl in the US and that Andy Rich and Vantage
Resin Systems are the right partner to not only seize
these market opportunities for Nanocyl, but also to
ensure our long-term market development in the US.”
