UFP Technologies Named a Fabricator of Aspen Aerogels Insulation Technology

UFP Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of custom engineered packaging materials, has been named a fabricator of Aspen Aerogels, a developer of the nanotechnology-enabled Aerogel Blanket™, used for thermal, fire and acoustic barrier applications for a variety industries, including oil, military & aerospace, building & construction, processing, appliance and transportation. As an authorized fabricator, UFP Technologies will convert Aspen Aerogels material into finished products. UFP Technologies will provide a variety of fabricating services, including design & engineering, adhesive & flame laminating, die cutting, thermoforming, heat sealing, RF welding and custom equipment design and manufacturing. Aerogels are highly porous solids formed from a gel in which the liquid is replaced with a gas. Labeled the worlds lightest solid, being over 95% air, an aerogel’s capacity to insulate is unmatched. Aspen Aerogels’ innovative insulation blanket is 2 to 8 times more effective than existing types of insulation technology and saves both space and weight. For instance, when a 6mm thick Aerogel Blanket is exposed to 1000° C heat on one side, the other side remains at 100° C.
